Experience

Michael began his career the Oil Industry in South Africa. Remaining in the oil business he moved initially to Canada where he gained valuable experience as a change agent helping leaders and organisations navigate through significant change.

During the next 25 years, working in different sectors across the globe and wearing at different times the hats of advisor, consultant and line manager, he honed his skills in leadership and organisational effectiveness. Most recently he held the senior HR role in a United Technologies Corporation business working closely with the regional presidents in Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific.

He has a future-oriented, resourced-based approach focussing on where people want to go and building on their existing strengths to get there.

Michael brings a practical global perspective to his coaching work, having lived on four continents and helped senior management teams in more than twenty countries increase their effectiveness.

Professional Expertise

His practical work experience has been gained by working as a senior HR executive, line manager and external consultant across a wide range of industries including oil and gas, apparel, beverages, management consulting, real estate and security in companies such as Exxon Mobil, Syncrude Canada, Levi Strauss & Co, Deloitte and Touche, Seagram’s, Lend Lease and Chubb. Michael uses a blend of individual coaching, offsite team development retreats and 360º feedback. He works in major multinationals across Europe and the Americas.

Education, Qualifications, Professional Positions

Michael holds a BA and Master’s degree in Organisation Development and is currently completing a MSc in coaching and consulting at Templeton College, Oxford and HEC, Paris. He is also certified in a wide variety of technologies including Myers-Briggs Type Inventory, Firo-B instrumentation, Leadership Effectiveness Analysis, Emotional Intelligence, Hermann Brain Dominance, William Bridges’ Transition work and Torbert’s Leadership Development Framework.
